In honour of Robin Syme AM

Robin Syme is a Life Governor of mecwacare and a major contributor to aged care in Australia. Robin was a solicitor, with over 40 years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector. The former president of The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Chairman of State Council and President of St John Ambulance Victoria joined the mecwacare board in 2000. Not long after, he was appointed as the organisation’s chairman.

Within this role, Robin oversaw the expansion and enhancement of mecwacare’s residential and general services to the community. Over a ten year period, Robin was involved in the expansion of mecwacare’s Sir Donald and Lady Trescowthick and Pakenham centres, and assisted in the opening of mecwacare’s Malvern Centre, a 120-bed aged care facility right next door to this new collection of residences.
